September 21-25

Math -  We will be doing the Zearn lessons in class.  Unless your child is absent, or did not complete the required 4 lessons per week in class, there should be no lessons to do at home on the chromebook.   We are learning what it means to multiply and divide  by modeling those operations with manipulatives (beans or paper squares)  and creating equations.  We are not learning facts YET.  That will be coming soon. The first sets of facts we will be learning are the 2’s and then 3’s.  Multiplication.com is an awesome website that has games for practicing multiplication facts as well as division, subtraction, and addition.

Science - This week we will be learning about how the types of weather are measured. We will learn that when we describe the weather conditions, we are including these four components: temperature, wind speed and direction, cloud cover, and the amount of rain or snow.  Your child will need to watch a weather forecast on Monday night and complete a google form in google classroom.

Social Studies-We will identify where the state capital and other cities major cities are on a map of Louisiana. We will also be learning about compass rose. Also, students will learn about the 5 regions of Louisiana.

English-  We will begin reading “The Fantastic Flying Book of Mr. Morris Lessmore.” We will work on sequencing events, determining unfamiliar words using context clues, discuss illustrations, determine central message, and explain how each detail conveys the central message. We will be taking a section quiz.

Homework:

  • Math - Go to classwork and look for the  Arrays and Multiplication assignment on Quiziz.

  • Science -  Weather Assignment - keeping track of daily weather conditions.   Most weather apps on your phone can give you this information.

  • English- At Home Assignments: Reread  “The Fantastic Flying Book of Mr. Morris Lessmore” and be on the lookout for assignments labeled at home.

  • Social Studies- Complete week 2 Studies Weekly. Please make sure if your child doesn’t do this virtually then have them take a picture with their chromebook and submit on Google Classroom or take a picture on your phone and send on Classdojo in a message!!

TESTING:  This week we will be administering another test to see what skills in reading and math our students are proficient in and which skills need more practice.
